Aaaand we're live! Thanks for joining me, ladies and gentlemen and other esteemed guests, this is truly monumentous: I have my Neocities fully operational! I've been wanting to get into it for a while now, I've been pationate about old internet and internet archaeology for a while now, so it only stands to reason I'd set one of these things up. Where to begin... I set it up bcos of Rogue over at Ordovar setting up theirs, and then realised this was the perfect place to host my web serial (landing page is set up, but not linked anywhere, so you shouldn't be able to see it til I'm ready to link it?) so I basically rushed to make it. Infact, the past two nights (I'm basically nocturnal at this point) have been me chugging away at making this. I found and massacred the templates from ribozone, added an image of my favourite primate, set up the serial's landing page, and we're peachy! This has been so fun and such a good excersize in my tech literacy. I'm so excited to see where this goes! Now, if you'll excuse me, I will now drop unconscious or not go unconscious for the next sun cycle. Depends on which way I wanna be unhealthy. Tchau!

Edit: I have decided to go live with the Web Serial, even if it hasn't started yet. It's called Ars Hyrannor: Book of the Bloodcallers, and you can find the landing page on the left, even if all you can do is get excited.

Day 2 of blogging! Don't get too used to daily blogs, I just had some stuff to say. I've been slowly chugging away at expanding the site since that last blog: I've got a bunch of new buttons, I added a favicon to both the personal side and the AH:BotB side, I've added the Top 3s page, and I've gotten more work done on the AH:BotB page! It has a button, now! Additionally, I'm adding Tags to these blogs now, so you can tell what they're gonna talk about, for when I start using these for more than just short devlogs. Can't wait for when I have to drop a Soapbox blog. When I'm better at HTML, I plan to make a better system for these but. For now? This is fine.

In terms of AH:BotB updates, I am part way through the full story outline. Progress was slow, as I realised I had to reassess a major part of the worldbuilding. However, since the prolouge is going to be shorter, I don't think that the March 1st release date is chaning. Ooohb I got planny of timee

Hey it's me Sepphie I'm back! Personal stuff out of the way: I've been nebulously "kind of ill" the past few days, in a way that made productivity very hard. This, plus there not being much more I'd like to add to the site, means I don't have any site updates to offer. Sorry gang. I am very happy about how things are going though, and Neocities has been such a dopamine pill recently. Word of advice: Do Anonymous Animal sometime. It's every hour, on the hour, for 15 minutes.

Now! Onto Ars Hyrannor! Despite lack of ability to productivity and generally me being bad at getting things done (AH:BotB is partially a challenge in executive dysfunction), I do have an outline done and the prolouge in progress. March 1st is looking like the day, even if it might be quite late that day... It helps I have already written an early version of this part of the story before. I have also vagueposted about one of the 3 main perspective characters on tumblr, so if you saw that, congrats! You know who the prolouge is gonna be about.

On that note, that'll be today's Blog. Now, I might be screaming into the void, but I would like to know if anyone knows how I can set up an RSS feed for AH:BotB, that doesn't update every time I change the site at all. Want people to see new chapters, not bugfixes and stuff. Thanks if anyone can!

OOP BONUS BLOG!!!

After updating the blog, I got back into the swing of things, and went on an Adding spree. We now have a nice stary night background, and a little drawing for the Blog page, as you can see above.

Nothing too massive, but I thought I'd write it down. I should get into the habit of making more blogs anyways. Expect some more tags to pop up soon!

Absolutely esctatic! Really happy with how this chapter turned out, and its really given me the feeling I can continue with it. I've settled on weekly updates, but don't be surprised if that becomes more sparse.

A little author's commentary for you:

This scene, despite being the first one you see and the inciting incident for Indigo's portion of the story, actually has only been written once before. The first three chapters I've had multiple goes at, but I've not actually given this scene much before. In earlier drafts, it was retroactively flashed back too, or I left it blank to be written later. However, the scene is very strong in my head. Despite her being 9 and pre-traumatized here, I feel like alot of core parts of the character you'll come to see and love later are on full display.

Indigo herself (she/they. How her culture deals with gender will be explored soon) I first came up with while listening to Vengeance by Visigoth, and was not in the earliest ideas for the story. I would talk more about early drafts, but then I'd get into straight up spoilers.

Fun drinking game: Take a shot every time you see the word "Blood" if you're interested in a career in alchohol poisoning!

Hey! Since I openly advertised AH:BotB on tumblr, a few of you are gonna be from there, so hi! This one is just gonna be short: I revamped the layout for chapter pages, since having a sidebar take up a good chunk of the page and push the writing to the side just wasn't working. I love that this has been dubbed an "OC site" but I promise you it's more. ← I do need to investigate why I consider "OC" almost derogatory. I feel like it's because they're often character devoid of a story or present only in fanfiction, and now that I'm writting an actual Goddamned Epic Fantasy Serial, it feels a bit weird to call my ostensibly storied characters "OCs." That being said, it'll probably continue til I woman up and just say "hey this is cool, but could you stop I've made my discomfort clear already."

The flu is kicking my entire ass and has been all week, I'm in no position to write and need to focus on recovery. Anyways, how I'll handle this week's AH:BotB is that on top of the regular chapter coming Saturday morning/Friday night, I'll do a bonus what-would-be-this-week's chapter on Sunday morning/Saturday night. So, we'll basically have no missed time at all. Isn't that swell. (It is. It is swell.)

It has been a rough week.

This is evident by the fact that you did not get Chapters 1&2 of Ars Hyrannor last week.

The whole week was a depressive spiral, a pretty tough time overall. I learnt alot, regardless, about all sorts, and about myself. I read alot, I tried to write a bit. You might have seen me online seeming Very Normal, but I've been living in a state of altered reality practically. I hope you can excuse my being bad at the "Serial" part of "Web Serial," I'm not a healthy or stable girl. I can't say this won't happen again, but I will strive to better, that is all I can do.

The lesson I have learnt is 'Don't push yourself to perfectly finish very large things while you're still recovering, and don't feel bad when you simply can't do it. I should also not promise such lofty things.

Regardless, chapter 1 is out now. I'm not sure I'm happy with the prose, but given its writting conditions, I'm more than more than happy with it. I already am considering eventually going back to these early chapters for a rewrite, but that's far off. For now, enjoy the fluff. You're gonna want it, for what's coming next.

I also hope I did a good job at portraying a trans experience. I don't want to be the type of person who says "The trans experience" because there is no singular one. But I hope this one that resonates with people, and that we can all feel happy for Ulith regardless. It's remarkably hard, it turns out, to write a trans experience whilst also introducing the reader to a new set of gender roles. Atleast the Oheli share some concepts with us.

In other news, I am working on making some Shrines! So that'll be fun.

heyyyyyyy so I forgot that acknowledging depression and burnout doesn't instantly stop it. Go figure. I still have felt pretty shite, but I'm on the upturn and atleast I know what to do more.

Anyways I accidentally missed a week of writing and forgot to announce that AH:BotB was going biweekly so I forgot I forgot a week.

To apologise, I will be adding illustrations. Everyone smile so so hard for this thing.

In other news, progress on Shrines is steady, and I've added stuff to the home page! It no longer says AH:BotB is upcoming, and you can see the moon now! I'm planning on adding a weekly "What I read this week," which will probably be mostly about the webcomics that come out regularly I read.

In all seriousness, though; thank you for reading these, and thank you for being here. I've been working under the assumption noone but Rouge checked here, and the new counter had me blindsighted with over a thousand people. I know almost none of them returned, but for those who do; thanks. For real. This site has helped me alot, and it's just fun in general. I want to keep working on it for as long as I can!
